Happy Anniversary!

Anniversaries are something that I usually don't forget. My parent's wedding anniversary is December 28th... I moved to New York on August 26th... I joined Netflix on a Saturday in September. But for whatever reason, my one year anniversary as The Displaced Debutante blew by without notice. I was much too busy blessing hearts and getting sucked in to this new season of The Bachelor (stay tuned for a post about THAT) to remember that on January 12th, 2014 I sat down at my computer and started telling my story and sharing my perspective.

A year later I would have never dreamed to have reached as many people from as many different backgrounds as I have, nor would I have dreamed a career as a writer would ever be an option for this tried and true actress.... but here we are and I couldn't be happier or more grateful. There are lots of very exciting possibilities on the horizon and it's all thanks to you - my readers.

But enough of that mushy stuff... let's get down to brass tacks. Anniversaries are not so much about remembering days as they are about PRESENTS. I got a pair of gold Tiffany & Co. earrings for my 1 year anniversary with my ex-boyfriend and even though the relationship went to hell you better believe I kept those earrings. So... my gifts to you:

  1. New Layout! I have transferred the blog over to WordPress in hopes of giving you all a simpler more user friendly experience. You can now follow The Displaced Debutante on any and all blog readers/feeds (ie: WordPress, Bloglovin, Blogger, etc.) and have access to my Facebook page and Instagram feeds directly from this page (see right). Pretty cool right?

  2. Special Video Content! A few months ago, I was approached by CondeNast to develop some digital content for them based on my blogs. I have since received a different opportunity that is taking my development of the blog in a different direction, but the good news about that is I'm FINALLY able to share this featurette with you all. Based on one of my most popular blog posts, I give you:

"Forever in Search of Darcy"

(You might need to use headphones/speakers if you're on a laptop. The audio is a touch low.)

I so hope you enjoyed that. I had a blast putting it together... and special thanks go out to my amazing brother Sam Haskell Jr. out in L.A. for shooting it so beautifully (read: I didn't cringe TOO terribly watching myself on camera haha) as well as my buddy David Sheftell for being the perfect modern day Darcy and adding all the hunk factor.

Now I KNOW you've been sitting there, enjoying all your presents, wondering WHAT you can do in return. Presents are, after all, mutually exclusive. SO - what I would love love LOVE you to do is "Follow" this new blog. It's SUPER easy... just look in the right hand column, find the "Follow Me" section, and enter your email address to receive emails whenever I post a new entry or bless another heart. They won't need any additional information and you won't be spammed I promise :)

I'm so grateful for all of your support... and I'm just tickled pink that you're on this journey with me. This is only the beginning!!

Happy Anniversary, everybody xo

With Grace and Good Humor,

My name is Mary Lane Haskell and my two "claims to fame" are that I have Dolly Parton's fax number and that Reese Witherspoon once liked a post on my Instagram.  I am an actor, a writer, and a profound Chipotle enthusiast making my way in Los Angeles while trying to stay true to my family's southern roots, all with grace and a touch a good humor.  I'm so glad you're here!
